School holiday fun this April!

School holiday fun this April!

Last month, we wrapped up an exciting, jam-packed 2 weeks of school holiday program with our 7-17 year olds here in Perth! This week, one of our School Holiday Program team leaders, Jaimee, gives us a peek into the fun…

Week 1

We kicked off the first week with a Mosaic art workshop where everyone got stuck into creating their own masterpieces.

Day 2 was an opportunity to form the SHP band once again, an activity that is always a favourite with our kids and teens. Everyone had the opportunity to become a rock star with Dean bringing along guitars, keyboards and drums for everyone to have a go!

On Wednesday we headed out and about for gymnastics at Gymability, where the kids climbed and tumbled, balanced and swung. After the gym we continued the fun with an afternoon at the park, with flying fox races being the highlight of the afternoon.

Thursday brought an opportunity for some healthy competition with mini golf, with quite a few “hole in ones” being scored. When we returned to the centre, the kids discovered that the Easter Bunny had visited and left a hunt and fun crafts for all, getting everyone ready for the Easter long weekend.

Week 2

After the long weekend, the kids headed off to the movies to see The Boss Baby and Smurfs: The Lost Village.

Then on Wednesday we went out to Landsdale Farm. Here we made damper and tea, and explored the farm. We found a very friendly sheep, which stole one of our apples but was happy to be patted and cuddles by all of the kids!

The next day we jumped on over to Highflyers, where the crowd-pleaser – the foam pit – kept everyone busy all morning!

We then went out with a bang, meeting up with the Mandurah team for Laser Tag in the park! Perth kids played against Mandurah kids and then staff against kids. Everyone worked up an appetite, and Beth from Mandurah provided an awesome lunch to refuel everyone for afternoon staff vs kids games.

Individualised services

This holidays for the first time we also offered individualised services for some of our teeangers. They had the opportunity to work towards some of their goals and have a great time out in the community doing activities such as rock climbing, archery and even adventure world!

Throughout the 2 weeks we saw many friendships blossom, some from children that had met at previous holiday programs, others forming new friendships. Whilst the school holiday program is focused on the kids having a great time, this program also focuses on the importance of parents and carers having respite as we understand how important it is to their wellbeing.

We run exciting and engaging school holiday programs throughout the year for kids and teens across Perth and Mandurah. To find out more, download our flyer or call 1800 610 665 today!
