We’re excited to start the year off with some great news from 2017. The City of Stirling was one of 10 winners of the Government Award of Excellence Garage Sale Trail! The strong partnership between the City of Stirling and our BRS has shown phenomenal results and lasting improvements in waste management.
Choosing to reuse
The BRS and the City’s six libraries led the way with promoting the ‘Choose to Reuse’ message through a series of promotional events in October. The BRS did their part with an all-out weekend bargain sale.
It was a huge success – there was over 117 garage sales and stalls hosted over that one weekend! Congratulations to everyone who was involved.
The Garage Trail campaign is a great way to encourage the community to take waste management into their own hands. By encouraging locals to host their own garage sales and stalls, we work towards rethinking our spending and disposal habits. Not to mention, it’s a great way to get involved with your local community!
The 2018 Garage Trail is set for the weekend of the 20 – 21st October. So make sure you don’t miss out on the opportunity to grab a great bargain and spread the recycling message!
Our work with the City of Stirling
Since taking over management of the BRS in August 2016, we’ve worked with the City of Stirling towards creating a sustainable future.
Our collaboration has earnt a number of accolades, such as the prestigious Lighthouse Award in September and the Infinity Awards last year! Not only was it a win for environmental sustainability, but we’ve also created more opportunities for people with disability.
We hope to continue working with the City of Stirling in the months to come. Thank you for your ongoing support and congratulations on your win!
Come visit the BRS to drop off your unwanted waste and find something unique and special at the shop!
