33 children joined our adventure-filled Perth program and welcomed spring with a mix of outdoor and centre-based activities! Program Coordinator Sara shares some highlights of another fantastic School Holiday Program (SHP).
Soaking in the sunshine
Each school holiday is designed not only to engage and excite participants, but to help them develop skills and be connected to the community.
“For this program we included more outdoors activities for our participants to not only enjoy nature, but also build connections with others in a safe, supportive environment,” says Sara.
We made good use of the warmer weather and got out and about on several day trips over the two weeks. These include visits to:
Nothing beats a picnic day out and a sausage sizzle. The group enjoyed the natural scenery at Lake Monger Reserve and got their hearts pumping with lots of group activities.
Our South West crew didn’t miss out on any of the fun either. They had a blast at Chipmunks Playland and Café and Rebound, and caught up with the latest movie at United Cinemas. Our activities help our children work on their mobility, concentration, and motor skills.
Building lasting connections
We’re a family here at SHP,” says Sara.
“Some of our regular attendees have been with us for several years, and it’s been lovely seeing how they’ve come out of their shell and grown in confidence.”
Many participants have built lasting friendships with our support team as well as the other children. As part of this they’ve also learn important lessons in teamwork, focus, self-expression, and respecting others.
We can’t wait until the School Holiday Program returns in January!
