From supported employee to employee support

Julian and Workpower have forged a win-win partnership.

First introduced to Workpower through our employee support program, we knew at the outset that it was important to build a career pathway for Julian that went hand in hand with his love of computers.

So, as a starting point, Julian honed his administration and IT skills through Workpower’s partnership with St John of God Health Care, where he was able to build his hands-on experience by helping staff to digitise and organise medical records and documents.

Since then, Julian has never looked back. After finishing his placement 2019 –  and keen to put his newly-learned skills to the test! – he commenced working 3 days a week at Workpower’s Osborne Park head office.

“During my time here, my typing skills have improved and I’ve learned more about Excel and Word documents,” says Julian.

“I want to keep learning new things, like getting better at using Excel functions for accounting, and to manage and interpret data.”

A testament to his work ethic, Julian has recently accepted a permanent part-time position as NDIS Systems Officer.

Plus, his new technical support system ‘Ask Jules’ that provides staff access to Workpower’s quality management system went live on 22 June 2021 .

But it is not just the workplace that Julian has excelled since first meeting us in 2018. Over time, with the assistance of our Support Coaches, Julian has renewed confidence and his independent lifestyle has improved out of sight.

Julian now uses public transport to get himself to work and back independently and is a regular at the gym – when he isn’t bowling or playing laser tag of course! Can you see yourself or someone you know in Julian’s shoes? Our team is always available to help. Get in touch with us today by sending us an email or calling 1800 610 665.
