Today marks an important occasion to acknowledge men and their role in society. Not only do we recognise their contribution to their families and communities, but also for being positive role models who lead by example.
Over the years we’ve seen plenty of men and women who’ve worked hard to support others and show a good example. So here are just three outstanding men who we’ve supported to take the next step towards their goals.
Opening new doors at St John of God
Since September Julien worked hard in his new data entry role, which involves transfering health records onto a digital system. He’s now expanding his skills, developing work experience, and taking steps towards building his administration career.
This position was developed through our Customised Employment program and is the perfect fit for both Julien and SJOG!
Leading the team at the Nursery
Ronyn’s hard work this year has paid off. After setting himself a goal to ride the quad bike, he successfully completed training and passed the practical test in June!
He now plays a lead role supporting the team to distribute stock efficiently and takes great pride in his new skills.
Expressing yourself through words
As part of a local creative writing group Nick channeled his creativity and skills to create short stories for an anthology Did we really write this? A JOC Anthology. Along with writing, he also produces his own music.
Nick was inspired to write by his lived experience of mental illness and hopes his creative work can help others.
Well done to Julien, Ronyn, and Nick for leading the way for others. We’re grateful to be able to support you in your journey!
