The boys at Property Services are working hard on their newest contract assembling and delivering bins to the residents of the City of Cockburn! The scope of this work is different from anything the team has undertaken to date and provides a nice change, as well as the opportunity to work with other Workpower teams in the wider organisation.
We commenced the contract in September 2017. The City of Cockburn had begun the move to the three bin system and required 28,000 bins to be assembled and delivered over three years. The bins are assembled at Workpower’s Bibra Lake site and then systematically delivered to specific suburbs to coincide with their current bin collection days.
So far, our team is right on track, with 3400 bins and lids delivered to date. The work may appear simple but is labor intensive and requires significant planning to ensure the right bins end up with the right residents every time.
The new work has also enabled the development of a management app! Our Web Development team have made a new app that allows the teams to track the bin and lid changeovers and record serial numbers to provide to the City for their asset management. By digitally recording the serial number of each bin and ticking off each successful delivery, the process becomes streamlined, accountable, and far easier to manage.
The team of 15 is made up of staff from our Property and Environmental Services teams, as well as our Balcatta Recycling Shop. The key to their success is the balanced mix of expertise and collaboration amongst the team members.
This contract should keep the Property team busy for a while, and the job provides a good break from their usual work too!
