School Holiday Program back for summer fun

Workpower’s School Holiday Program for young people with disability is back this summer for people aged seven to 17.

The School Holiday Program offers a tailored approach to provide engaging NDIS funded one-on-one supports in the community and at Workpower’s centres for young people with disability.

Running three days a week in both Perth and Mandurah, from 10 January to 21 January 2022, registrations close Wednesday 8 December 2021.

To register your interest contact Bithika Kastha (Perth) on 0407 985 628 or bithika.kastha@workpower.asn.au or Lisa Driehuis (Mandurah) on 0438 080 921 or lisa.driehuis@workpower.asn.au

“We’re all very excited to for the upcoming School Holiday Program to get started, to see the friendships formed over the spring holidays’ program develop further and to hopefully see some new faces benefitting from the social interaction,” said Lisa Driehuis, the Mandurah School Holiday Program Team Leader.

The School Holiday Program experience

Our School Holiday Program is all about making lasting friendships through plenty of fun and games, and the most recent spring program demonstrates this terrific success.

There were sports, a music and dance party, and even a cooking class at the Perth School Holiday Program hosted at Workpower’s Cannington Centre.

“Seeing Harrison and Hudson share the jam cakes they had made during the Thursday Cooking activity was definitely a highlight for me, it was just such a generous and heartwarming gesture,” said Samhitha Joshi, School Holiday Program Perth Team Leader.

The Mandurah program boasts similar activities to its Perth counterpart, with the spring school holidays seeing the Singleton Community Centre becoming a hive of activity with a treasure hunt, spy mission, and karaoke party all part of the fun during the program.

“It’s a lot of fun for those who attend, and it’s all about supporting social interaction and building friendships,” said Lisa.

“The first thing out of Storm’s mouth when he arrived each morning would be asking if Jessica was here – so seeing friendships like theirs grow over the two weeks – that’s what this program is all about.” For more details on the School Holiday Program visit https://workpower.com.au/supports/school-holiday-supports/
