Our School Holiday Program (SHP) is all about engagement, building friendships, and having fun – and there was plenty of that in last month’s program! SHP Perth Coordinator Sara shares with us all the details.
Fun and educational
“When we plan each program, we make sure to incorporate a range of activities that aim at creating fun-filled and learning opportunities for our young participants,” says Sara.
The many SHP activities we host not only entertain the little ones. They are designed to promote:
- mobility and control
- gross and fine motor skills
- fitness and endurance
- skill development
In addition, it’s the perfect environment to nurture teamwork, patience, mindfulness, friendship, and respect for others. These are critical for future growth and development.
The April program saw the children get out and about in the community, with a number of go-to favourite activities. This includes:
- trampoline fun at High Flyers
- picnic and games at the local park
- visits to Kidz Paradise and Gymnastics WA
- our Performing Arts and Music Rocks classes
We’re off to the circus
And to finish up a stellar two weeks we tried a brand new activity, a circus skills workshop with Kinetica!
Everyone had a chance to juggle, spin plates, and test their balance and strength on the trapeze. Our support team were on hand to make any adjustments to activities so that everyone could enjoy themselves.
We all get worried about new experiences from time to time. As such one of our participants wasn’t at her best and didn’t want to participate that day. But after encouragement and support she gave it a shot, and was having an incredible time 10 minutes later!
It’s wonderful to see everyone try their best, learn new skills, and have the time of their lives.
