The opportunity to find the perfect pairings

The opportunity to find the perfect pairings

Not a stranger to the Workpower family, Maddi Jeckells has taken on a new role within our People and Culture team as Manager Customer Engagement, determined to find the perfect NDIS services for new customers.

The role is a great fit for Maddi, who has experienced just about everything Workpower has to offer.

Since commencing with Workpower eight years ago, Maddi has worked with people with disability across all aspects of their lives from gaining confidence and completing daily life skills to developing employment passions and experiences.

Understanding needs and goals

Starting out in 2014 within our School Holiday Program, supporting children with disability to have a memorable school holidays, Maddi found a love for working with people and decided to take on the role of support coach, working with people with disability to achieve their goals in the community and in employment.

More recently, Maddi has worked to develop employment skills with our Defence Administration Assistance Program team located on Garden Island before working with a team of eight to learn catering and barista skills at the Blue Bean café at the Police Headquarters.

Maddi’s decided to take on a new challenge within Workpower to continue helping people with disability gain the access to services to help them live their best life.

“With this role, it’s definitely different to what I’ve done previously working with people on gaining a specific skill set,” Maddi explained. “Now I get to work with people on a bigger picture – connecting them to our support services in the community and in employment to help them achieve their life goals.”

“I’d just loved to get as many people with disabilities signed up to something they love doing whether that’s a job or out in the community.”

A meaningful career

A love for travel took Maddi to the other side of the world, when she moved to Canada to gain new experiences.

When she returned home she quickly realised her purpose to help people with disability was calling and she came back to a team who were excited to have her onboard.

“There’s just no better feeling than when you get to see someone achieve a goal they’ve been working towards for weeks and sometimes months,”

“None of my previous jobs had much meaning but with Workpower, I feel like I’m constantly helping people,” Maddi said.

When Maddi isn’t busy smashing goals with Workpower customers, she’s in the kitchen, cooking and eating everything from sweets to savouries.

We’re looking forward to seeing how you pair things together both in your new role and in your kitchen!
