Introducing: Brilliant Blake!

Blake is making waves both at Workpower’s Plant Nursery and in the pool!

With a decade of dedication under his belt, Blake’s journey with us began straight out of school, thanks to our School Leavers Program.

Over the years, Blake’s skills have blossomed as a Horticultural Worker. From mastering tools like the blower and the pallet jack to making deliveries in our trusty truck, Blake has become a pro at plant care and his knowledge of plant species has truly flourished!

But Blake’s passion for plants doesn’t stop there, he enjoys diving into wet baiting.

It’s a hands-on job of submerging plants to cultivate their native growth, keeping him cool on hot days.

This is not the only water-based activity that Blake enjoys - outside the nursery, Blake is a swimming sensation!

Blake’s parents decided to get him into swimming lessons as a young child. What started as a fun activity turned into a remarkable athletic career. 

Blake’s swimming success became a journey of over 100 medals and international awards, including a gold medal at the prestigious Asia Pacific Games, where he represented Australia and stole the spotlight.

Back at the nursery, Blake’s superpower Workpower is his patience. With a wealth of knowledge, he patiently guides new team members, showing them the ropes with care and understanding. It’s this patience and kindness that makes him a valued mentor and member of the Nursery team.

His advice is simple yet profound: “Give it a go! I’d say it’s a good workplace, yes, very much so. I’ve made lots of friends since being here.”
