Introducing… Michael the Mighty!
Michael thrives on challenges, constantly pushing himself to learn new skills and grow.
In his previous role, Michael honed his skills in pallet-making and forklift operations. However, his transition to Workpower’s Fire and Electrical team in July 2022 truly unleashed his potential.
Michael’s days are filled with testing fire hoses, ensuring they meet safety standards crucial for firefighters. Having recently acquired his Heavy Rigid (HR) license, Michael’s responsibilities extend to delivering the tested hoses to fire stations across Western Australia, a task he really enjoys.
From bustling metropolitan areas to remote towns, Michael’s job takes him on exciting road trips across WA.
“I have been doing stuff that I have never done before, like driving big vehicles and visiting towns that I have never been to. I had never been up North, so it is really cool to visit all of the different towns around WA, which is really cool because not many people can do that,” he said.
Outside of work, Michael’s interests span from sports to gaming. A dedicated basketball player, he finds solace in the gym, where he’s refined his skills since he was 15. “It’s good for my mental health,” he shares.
An avid gamer, Michael’s downtime is often spent immersed in the latest releases on his PlayStation and Xbox consoles.
As for the future, Michael hopes to continue his journey at Workpower but envisions exploring opportunities in open employment one day. Fueled by his newfound skills and HR License, he aspires to become a truck driver.
Michael offers a simple piece of advice for those considering joining the team; “Give it a go... the guys, the staff, and the bosses here are great. If you get stuck, they’ll give you a hand, and they will teach you.”
