Workpower Donates to OzHarvest WA

Workpower Belmont has donated a whopping 10,000 packets of rice to OzHarvest WA, a leading food rescue organisation in Australia. This remarkable contribution arose from the remaining stock from Workpower Belmont’s Packaging and Warehousing site.

Workpower’s General Manager of Disability Enterprises, Aaron Mcmillan, joined the efforts, unloading pallets of rice alongside Workpower employees Daniel Schlegel and Topsy Christie.

“It’s great to be able to donate our additional stock to such a good cause like OzHarvest.” Aaron said.

OzHarvest WA State Manager, Jennifer Keen said that the organisation saves 30 tonnes of food every month.

"We divide the food we receive amongst the charities that we support. We support 180 charities ranging from refuge homes and drug rehabilitation centres to schools.” Jennifer said.

Workpower’s generous donation comes just in time as OzHarvest begins putting together Christmas hampers for those in need.

Jennifer explained, “We made 500 hampers last year. But this year, due to high demand, our goal is to assemble 1,000 Christmas food hampers, so these rice packets will definitely help us to achieve that goal.”

We’re proud to support OzHarvest and their mission to reduce waste and make a lasting impact in our community.
