Workpower Plants 36,000 Trees for Salubris' Valley Floor Reforestation Project

Workpower's Environmental Services business recently planted 36,000 plants for Salubris's Valley Floor Reforestation project, making a significant contribution to restoring the Avon River Basin.

Salubris is a leading environmental services company that specialises in carbon abatement and land management solutions, with projects in the Goldfields and Wheatbelt of Western Australia.

The Valley Floor Reforestation project is a collaboration led by Salubris and in partnership with farmers in Corrigin, to plant mixed Eucalyptus species that are well-adapted in saline-impacted areas of farmland. The project will deliver many environmental benefits, such as improving soil conditions and protecting native plant species. It will also ensure sustainable farming continues in the region and deliver valuable Australian Carbon Credit Units (ACCUs).

"This is the first time Workpower has partnered with Salubris and our team enjoyed their time working on this project in Corrigin," said Alex Growden, General Manager of Workpower's Environmental Services business and from a fifth-generation Wheatbelt farming family. "The partnership not only benefits the environment but also creates meaningful employment opportunities for people with disability."

"Our Environmental Services business is well-equipped and experienced in working across regional WA and partnering with carbon projects such as those like the one led by Salubris. We have the capability to complete projects of all scales across WA, working from Workpower sites based in Perth, Geraldton, Kalgoorlie, Bunbury, and Busselton. Our team regularly completes projects in the Pilbara, and as far away as Thevenard Island and Saudi Arabia," Alex said. “Just this season, we have completed planting projects in Corrigin, Dandaragan, Moora, and Marvel Loch”.

"It was great to engage with Workpower to plant the initial 36,000 Eucalyptus seedlings at our first reforestation project in the Avon River Basin. Not only was it good to be enabling positive social outcomes while fighting climate change, but the team were all friendly and efficient to work with. A great collaboration creating meaningful opportunities for all those involved." Said Peter Balsarini, Salubris CEO & Executive Director.
