Workpower Drives FOGO Rollout for City of Swan

Workpower, a leading disability service provider, is playing a pivotal role in supporting the City of Swan’s implementation of its Food Organics Garden Organics (FOGO) program. As part of the City’s FOGO tender, Workpower is tasked with the distribution of new general waste bins, swapping the lids of existing general waste bins to FOGO, and delivering leaflets and FOGO desktop caddies to residents.

A Dedicated Team

Led by a production coordinator, Workpower assembled a dedicated team with knowledge and expertise in logistics, packaging, warehousing and assembly, to support a seamless and efficient rollout. Workpower has over thirty years in logistics, packaging, warehousing, and assembly.

Appropriate Equipment
Workpower invested in the appropriate equipment to facilitate the distribution and swapping process. This included specialised trucks and trailers designed to transport and distribute bins safely and efficiently.

Capacity for Storage, Assembly, and Rollout
To accommodate the large number of bins involved in the FOGO rollout, Workpower established a facility to receive containers, and with ample capacity for storage, assembly, and dispatch. This ensures that bins are readily available when needed, minimising delays in the rollout process.

Hitting Targets with the Rollout
Workpower's efficient operations and dedicated team enabled them to meet the City of Swan's targets for bin distribution and lid swapping.

Adherence to strict deadlines set by the City.
Flexibility and adaptability to catch up over five days per week if necessary, and the ability to redirect significant labour and equipment resources to deliver the contract on time.

Safety and Reporting
Safety is a top priority. Workpower implements strict safety protocols to protect its employees and the public. Additionally, Workpower provides detailed reports to the City of Swan, keeping them informed of progress and addressing any issues that arose.

  • Comprehensive risk and safety assessments conducted on all equipment and work processes.

  • Safe work procedures for equipment and processes implemented, with employees trained in first aid and manual handling.

  • Regular reporting to the City, including daily progress updates, monthly stocktakes, and ongoing communication with the commercial customer.

“The City of Swan started a three-year transition of 65,000 households to the 3-bin system in July 2024. It is an immense and complicated project. Workpower, as our rollout partner, have approached this challenge with endless positivity, persistence, and great customer service. They’ve worked closely with the City as we continue to improve our rollout processes and ensure a smooth transition for our residents.”
