It’s official. City of Busselton Reuse Shop is now open!

The team at Workpower Busselton joined CEO Lee Broomhall, General Manager Regions Gareth Goodway, General Manager Recycling James Wilson, City of Busselton Mayor Phill Cronin, City representatives, families and friends to officially open the Busselton Reuse Shop, operated by Workpower.

The Reuse Shop has been operational since last month, providing second homes for quality pre-loved items to locals while diverting waste from landfill.

The City of Busselton Reuse Shop is the fourth reuse shop operated by Workpower and the first located out of the metropolitan area – providing employment opportunities for people with disability.

The project received support from the State Government through a $150,000 grant from the Waste Authority of WA. Workpower successfully tendered for the operational side.

Workpower CEO Lee Broomhall highlighted the importance of reuse shops in effective waste management, noting that they divert tonnes of reusable items from landfill and give them a second life. She also emphasised that the job opportunities at reuse shops provides people with disability valuable experience in retail and waste management, adding to the diverse services that the Workpower Busselton team offers to local businesses and industries.

While waste disposal fees still apply to goods presented at the Waste Transfer Station, all proceeds from sales are used to offset costs, including the ongoing employment of Workpower staff.

The Reuse Shop is located at 39 Rendezvous Road, Vasse, within the Busselton Waste Transfer and Recycling Centre. Operating hours are Thursday to Friday from 9 am to 3 pm, and Saturday to Sunday from 10 am to 2 pm.
