Workpower Presents: Claire the Cultivator!

With a contagious enthusiasm, Claire digs a little deeper into her role as a Horticultural Worker at Workpower's Plant Nursery.
Claire’s day-to-day activities consist of watering plants, weeding, assisting with plant selection, and stock movement for clients. She ensures each species blooms under her care.
Transitioning straight from High School to the Nursery in May 2022, Claire thinks she may have found her niche, reflecting on her journey that now spans into its second year.
"I enjoy the company of my coworkers and working with plants. I've learned a lot about the different plants and their scientific names."
Clare beamed with satisfaction as she successfully mastered the pronunciation of "Eremophila," one of the complex plant names she had been practicing.
Determined to deepen her knowledge, Claire is sowing the seed of her future plans. She has her sights set on pursuing a Cert 2 in horticultural studies at Tafe. "I want to learn more about the plants and their design aspects," she explains, eager to expand her expertise further.
Beyond the nursery gates, Claire's interests are as diverse as the plants she takes care of. A keen netball player since childhood, she shines on the court as GS and GA for Wanneroo.
"I love netball, I've been playing since I was 8 years old," she said.
In her downtime, Claire indulges her culinary passions, whipping up delicious curries and chocolate mousse for her family. She also enjoys channelling her creativity into photography, capturing the beauty of plants and animals through her lens.
Reflecting on her experience at Workpower’s Plant Nursery, Claire shares some advice for those considering joining; "It is a wonderful environment; everyone is really nice, and the work is great and enjoyable too. You get to join others, and we do things outside of work together too, like bowling," she said, highlighting the supportive community that extends beyond the workplace.
